Dr. Asumani Kinobe
Dr. Asumani Kinobe is currently the Executive Director of Acacia Insurance Brokers Limited. He Started his insurance career as a Junior Executive Trainee with Hogg Robinson and Collin Hood Uganda Limited, the Lloyds brokers, and subsequently moved to National Insurance Corporation, where he was appointed General Manager/ Chairman of the Corporation.
In 1980, He became the first Commissioner of Insurance in the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning, and was subsequently appointed an underwriter at the African Reinsurance Corporation, headquarters, Lagos, Nigeria. In 1986, he moved to United Kingdom and served as a representative of Canada Life UK, ALICO, Venture Finance PLC and ABN AMRO PLC.
He studied at Kibuli Senior Secondary School, Nicolete College USA, Swiss Insurance Training College, The Institute of International Management Geneva, The Chartered Insurance College UK, Munichre (Germany)and the University of Westminster(UK).
Dr. Kinobe is a member of the British Institute of Management(MBIM) and market research society. In 70s, He served as a director for the Insurance Institute of Uganda (Affiliated to the Chartered Insurance Institute UK), Director Bank of Uganda, Councilor of Kampala City Council, Director of African Reinsurance Corporation, Member of the Executive Committee of the African Insurance Organization and the organization of Africa Insurers, Chairman of the Uganda Insurers Association, Member of the Interim Board of Governors(UNCTAD) (Institute of Insurance Training and Education for Eastern and Central Africa), Member of the Executive Committee of Uganda Trade Development Association UK and an Associate of the Nigerian Institute of Management.
He is currently a member of Board of Trustees, Uganda Alzheimer Association.
On 22nd-Nov-2014, he was awarded a Doctorate of Philosophy in Humanities.
On the 12th-June-2017, the Uganda government appointed him to serve as the Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Uganda Hotel and Tourism Training Institute (UHTTI) in accordance with sec 6(2) (b) of the Uganda Hotel and Tourism Training Institute, Act 2015.
